OVO

Features

A player built around the music you keep.

OVO is organised around four things: your library, where your music comes from, how it sounds, and which device you happen to be holding.

Shelves of records, a stack of sleeves, headphones and a small drive in a dim listening room.

Library

Your collection, kept intact.

Imported music keeps its albums, artists, artwork and track order. Nothing is flattened into an anonymous list of files.

  • Album-first browsing: albums stay whole, in the order the artist intended.
  • Artist views that hold up: artists group their albums instead of scattering singles.
  • Offline is obvious: see what is stored on the device and plays with no connection.
  • Folder structure respected: browse by folder if that is how your collection is organised.
  • Playlists across sources: build a list from what you own and what you connect.
  • Find it quickly: search across the library rather than one source at a time.

Listening

What you love, and what comes next.

Two small things decide whether a player feels like yours: how quickly you can get back to the tracks you keep returning to, and whether you can see what is queued without losing the song you are on.

Liked

A heart is enough. Liked tracks collect in one screen that spans the sources you have connected.

Playing Next

The queue opens over Now Playing, so you can see and reorder the rest of the session without leaving the track.

Sound

Controls that earn their place.

Sound settings should fix real problems: a thin rip, a quiet transfer, headphones with no low end.

  • Ten-band equalizer: shape specific frequency ranges rather than choosing a vague preset.
  • Bass Boost: adds low-end weight where a recording or a pair of headphones needs it.
  • Volume Boost: raises the level of quiet material to something usable.

Devices

iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

The same library, presented for the screen you are using. OVO uses iCloud to sync your OVO library between your Apple devices. Synced local files can play on Apple Watch; streams and Apple Music play on the paired iPhone and are controlled from the wrist.

What runs where

iPhone
