Cloud and iCloud
Cloud storage is where a lot of collections now live. OVO reads music from Files and iCloud Drive folders, connects secure WebDAV folders, and keeps your OVO library in sync between Apple devices with iCloud.
The short answer
OVO works with Files and iCloud Drive synced folders and with WebDAV folders, and it syncs your OVO library between your Apple devices using iCloud. Files kept on the device remain playable offline; connected services and live streams still depend on their source and a network connection.
Four separate things
These are often lumped together, and they behave differently. Here is what each one actually does inside OVO.
Importing
Pull albums down from a cloud drive so the files become part of the on-device library. Once imported, they are local music: they play with no connection and keep their album, artist and artwork grouping.
Synced folders
Point OVO at a folder you maintain in Files or iCloud Drive. As the folder changes, its contents stay available to the player, so you organise music where you already keep it.
Library sync
iCloud keeps your OVO library in sync between iPhone and iPad, so the library you build on one device is present on the next rather than rebuilt by hand.
WebDAV
Connect a WebDAV folder from your own server or storage and play the tracks inside it from the same player as everything else.
Worth being precise about
Reaching music through the cloud tells you where a file is stored. Offline playback tells you whether it is on the device right now.
OVO reaches cloud storage through Files, iCloud Drive and WebDAV. It does not add dedicated integrations for other storage providers.
